IP SOKRATES Soil-Microbe-Plant Interactions: Fundamentals and Applications (VZ 911.202; SS 2008):
"Rhizotechnology for enhancing resource efficiency in low-input farming"
June 23 - July 4, 2008
Rhizosphere processes play a crucial role in nutrient and water resource efficiency of low input and organic farming. This 12-day course combines fundmantal theory of soil-plant-microbe interactions with applied case studies highlighting their importance and management in sustainable agriculture.
Day 1 – 4: Theoretical background, experimental approaches
Day 5 – 8: Excursion: visit of organic farms, experimental plots research stations, sightseeing
Day 9 – 12: practical work, discussions, students‘ presentations
You will work in a team of ~ 25 high-level Master and Ph.D. students and more than 10 teachers from various European universities and research organisations with plenty of time for scientific discussions. Students are asked to present their own thesis work in a relaxed atmosphere. Social events and excursions are an essential part of the programme.
